Want to learn more about DC Microgrids and other LEF technologies, and take steps towards building them in your own community? Here’s some suggestions for how to get started.
- Explore our online resources. The links under the “Our Technologies” menu on this website contain introductions to DC Microgrids, biogas, and solar thermal. Also, there are links to several YouTube videos explaining LEF technologies available here.
- Come out for a tour and see our microgrid firsthand. Tour dates and other details are available here.
- Spend time at Living Energy Farm as a residential volunteer. The best way to learn about DC Microgrids is to live with them! Click here for details about our residential volunteer program. We give preference to volunteers who are learning in order to apply the technologies in their own projects.
- Purchase a consultation from Living Energy Lights. If the cost is an obstacle, we offer pro bono consultations for projects that are community scale and working towards being energy independent (off-grid).
- Attend one of our training programs, which happen about once per year. Announcements go out in our newsletter, and we’ll post on our website when the application window is open.
- Do you already have some electrical, plumbing or other trade skills and want hands-on experience with DC Microgrids? Get involved with one of our installations! Reach out by email and let us know your skill level and how you would like to get involved. There’s always projects going on that can use skilled help.
- If you’re not skilled yet, but you want to be, see steps above, and/or volunteer with an experienced tradesperson close to you. “Conventional” trade skills are critical to understanding, designing, and safely installing DC Microgrids.
